Canada is making it easier for families and businesses to switch to an electric vehicle (EV) by expanding access to EV charging infrastructure across Atlantic Canada. Recently, Kody Blois, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced over $5 million in federal funding for five projects through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP).

SWTCH Energy and FLO have recently announced a comprehensive roaming agreement. The agreement allows users of one charging network to access the other network’s stations through their existing app, eliminating the need for multiple accounts, payment methods, and apps to install. The roaming agreement addresses a critical industry challenge: charging network fragmentation. Recently, PowerCo Canada has officially launched its first job recruitment campaign for what will be the country’s largest-ever electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing plant, located in St. Thomas, Ontario. The start of recruitment marks a significant milestone for the project, local economy and the community, as PowerCo seeks to fill hundreds of well-paying jobs in this initial phase and will eventually create thousands of jobs when the plant is fully operational.
Recently, the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada, on behalf of the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced nearly $22.7 million for eight projects aimed at improving electric vehicle (EV) charging availability in British Columbia. It officially regulates electric vehicle energy management systems (EVEMS) to allow for the partial or complete omission of electric vehicle charging equipment (EVSE) from the load calculation in Section 8 of the Code. Master electricians will find clear guidelines to ensure installations are compliant, safe, and easier to approve during inspections. CSA 343 is a performance standard for EVEMS.
