Thousands of New EV Chargers Across Canada Will Support Canadians’ Green Transportation Choices

Making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV) is a win-win for families looking to save money while reducing pollution. Due to cheaper refuelling and lower maintenance costs, most EVs cost less than their gas engine counterparts over their lifetime. Canadians are also benefiting from federal investments across the EV supply chain, which are positioning Canada as a provider in the growing global EV market and creating good manufacturing jobs across the country. Recently, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, alongside Member of Parliament Patrick Weiler, announced federal investments of $14.9 million for 20 projects that will install more than 3,000 EV chargers across Canada.

Electrify Canada Expansion Continues – Adding Seventh Province and Bolstering Québec

Electrify Canada recently announced a network expansion including its first stations in the province of Nova Scotia and further expansion in Québec. Located along popular travel routes and near shopping and dining, the seven new stations will add more than 40 individual next-generation chargers, capable of speeds up to 350 kW. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Canadian Tire to bring more Hyper-Fast charging to locals, commuters, and travellers in the provinces of Nova Scotia and Québec – the zero-emission volume leader,” said Scott Hollinshead, program manager, OEM business development at Electrify Canada.

Enel X Way, Makers Of The JuiceBox EV Charger, Has Shut Down Its US & Canada Operations

On October 3, 2024, Enel X Way, the maker of the Juice Box EV Charger and numerous Level 3 Fast Chargers, announced that it was shutting down it’s entire North American charging operation. The abrupt notice informed users that all Enel X way software and connected services would be discontinued in the USA and Canada. Residential Level 2 JuiceBox chargers will continue to be able to charge vehicles, however, they will lose smart connectivity, and the Enel X Way app will be discontinued and removed from the App Store. Commercial charging stations will lose functionality in the absence of software continuity.
