Electrify Canada Expansion Continues - Adding Seventh Province and Bolstering Québec

October 17, 2024

Electrify Canada recently announced a network expansion including its first stations in the province of Nova Scotia and further expansion in Québec.

Located along popular travel routes and near shopping and dining, the seven new stations will add more than 40 individual next-generation chargers, capable of speeds up to 350 kW.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Canadian Tire to bring more Hyper-Fast charging to locals, commuters, and travellers in the provinces of Nova Scotia and Québec – the zero-emission volume leader,” said Scott Hollinshead, program manager, OEM business development at Electrify Canada. “These new stations almost double our presence in Québec and introduce Electrify Canada to Nova Scotia. With locations now in seven provinces, Electrify Canada is committed to supporting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles across Canada.”

The five new Québec stations in Greenfield Park, Mont-Tremblant, Laval, Québec City, and St-Hyacinthe, join the network’s existing locations in Drummondville, Mirabel, Repentigny, Sherbrooke, St-Romuald, and Trois-Rivières. As EV adoption increases, Electrify Canada also plans to add larger stations, and Greenfield Park and Laval are the network’s first eight charger stations.

Electrify Canada’s network presence now extends to seven provinces with the addition of Nova Scotia. Near the border of New Brunswick and close to Halifax, the new stations in Amherst and Bedford help enable travel between provinces.

The charging stations in Nova Scotia and Québec are partially funded by Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) ZEVIP funding.

New Electrify Canada locations in Québec:

  • Greenfield Park, Canadian Tire, 4909 Taschereau Blvd – coming soon
  • Mont-Tremblant, Canadian Tire, 228 Route 117 – now open
  • Laval, Canadian Tire, 1450 Blvd Le Corbusier – now open
  • Québec City, Canadian Tire, 4500 Rue Armand-Viau – coming soon
  • St-Hyacinthe, Canadian Tire, 5930 Rue Martineau – coming soon

New Electrify Canada locations in Nova Scotia:

  • Amherst, Canadian Tire, 152 Albion Street South – now open
  • Bedford, Canadian Tire, 150 Damascus Road – coming soon

“Every year, hundreds of thousands of Canadians are saving by switching from paying at the gas pump to driving electric vehicles – and they are right to expect affordable, reliable, and accessible charging options wherever they go. We are pleased to be working with Electrify Canada to deliver dozens of new hyper-fast charging stations for drivers across Quebec, Nova Scotia, and beyond.”

The Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change

“We’re making electric vehicles more affordable and charging more available where Canadians live, work, travel, and play. Investing in more EV chargers, like the chargers that have been installed as of today in Nova Scotia, and those being installed in Halifax West, will put more Canadians in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future and help achieve our climate goals.”

Lena Metlege Diab, Member of Parliament for Halifax West

In addition to the expansion in Québec and into Nova Scotia, Electrify Canada has recently opened new charging stations in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan; the openings are a significant step in creating a transformative DC fast-charging network to serve Canadian EV drivers.

For customers with capable vehicles, the Plug&Charge enabled Electrify Canada network offers a seamless charging experience. Customers can verify their vehicle’s Plug&Charge capability with the manufacturer. Charging sessions can also be managed through the user-friendly Electrify Canada mobile app, which enables contactless payment and session tracking on their smartphone or payment can be made by credit card at the charging station.
