Starkville Expansion Groundbreaking

Southwire has officially broken ground on the construction of the company’s newest expansion in Starkville, Miss.

On Thursday, October 1, members of the Southwire and Starkville communities joined to celebrate and break ground on the new facility. 

The Starkville expansion project, which will add approximately 380,000 square feet to the location’s footprint and represents a corporate investment of more than $256 million, is expected to create approximately 130 new jobs and reinforces the company’s commitment to its team members, customers and communities.

“This groundbreaking is an exciting milestone for Southwire and for our Starkville team,” said Veronica Braker, EVP, Operations. “As we continue investing in our operations, this expansion reflects our commitment to creating a safer, more efficient and more innovative environment for our team members while strengthening our ability to serve customers across our markets.Starkville has played an important role in Southwire’s manufacturing story, and we are proud to build on that foundation for the future.” 

The expansion and upgrades at the Starkville Plant will enhance the experience for Southwire’s team members by supporting a safer, more efficient work environment, strengthening its focus on quality and better positioning the company to serve its customers, communities and stakeholders for years to come.

“For our Starkville team, this project represents more than added space; it represents opportunity,” said Erik Adams, Starkville Plant Manager. “The expansion will help us enhance the way we work, support continued growth and create new career opportunities for current and future team members. We are grateful for the dedication of our team and excited for what this investment means for the plant, our customers and the Starkville community.”

Construction on the Starkville expansion is expected to begin in late 2026 with full capacity anticipated to come online in 2028.
