New FLO Chargers in Northwest Territories, Niagra Falls, and the Legendary Fairmont Empress

January 29, 2025

FLO has recently announced new EV charger installations in Hay River, Northwest Territories, Niagara Falls, Ontario, and the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, British Columbia.

New FLO Chargers in Hay River, Northwest Territories

The Town of Hay River in Canada’s Northwest Territories has its first DC Fast Charger with the installation and activation of two FLO 100kW SmartDC fast chargers and two FLO CoRe+ MAX level 2 chargers.

NT Energy deployed the stations as the latest addition to a planned corridor that will run from Yellowknife to the Northwest Territories and Alberta border. FLO charging stations in Fort Smith and Behchokǫ̀ will open before the end of the year.

“The addition of an EV charging station to the electricity infrastructure in the Town of Hay River will help encourage residents to consider purchasing an electric vehicle when they are next in the market for a new car or truck. The Town of Hay River recently announced that its entire Municipal Enforcement fleet is now 100% electric, and the charging stations will be able to further support those vehicles,” said Cory Strang, President and CEO of Northwest Territories Power Corp (NTPC), in an NTPC statement

Northwest

The new stations are located in front of the NTPC head office on Capital Drive. They will be publicly accessible with charging available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fees have been determined by NT Energy and are available on the FLO app or FLO.com.

The FLO SmartDC charger is a durable, reliable fast charger built to withstand temperatures from minus 40°F to 122°F.

FLO’s CoRe+ MAX charger delivers a maximum power output of 19.2 kW, charges up to 2.7x faster than a typical Level 2 charging station and delivers the most power output available to a Level 2 charger.

FLO will also oversee servicing and equipment maintenance in Hay River.

Niagara Falls Powered by FLO Chargers

EV drivers in Niagara Falls, Ontario, can now power up at new FLO chargers located at key city buildings.

FLO CoRe+ level 2 chargers are installed and powering drivers at the Wayne Thomson Building and The Niagara Falls Exchange.  FLO chargers are also located in the City parking lot at Kitchener Street and Victoria Avenue.

According to the City, the chargers have been installed in partnership with Alectra Energy Solutions, supported by federal funding through the NRCan Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP).

This initiative represents a significant step towards achieving the City’s long-term objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable transportation, and fostering a greener future for Niagara Falls, said the City.

FLO’s CoRe+ charger is built to last even in the most extreme weather conditions while offering reliable Level 2 charging.
