What You Need to Know About the EvoCharge Shutdown & How SWTCH Can Help

October 7, 2025

In September 2025, Phillips & Temro announced the closure of the EvoCharge EV charging business.

By November 2025, access controls for the chargers will cease to function, though basic charging functionality will continue to work as before. Essentially, it means EvoCharge’s chargers will become basic, non-smart EV chargers.

To preserve full charger functionality, access control, and other smart features, here is what you need to know about completing a successful migration to a new network.

Can EvoCharge stations be migrated to a new network?

Short answer: Yes. Because EvoCharge stations support OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), migrating them to a new charging network is quite straightforward.

Essentially, you’ll need only to find a solutions provider that is also OCPP and then work with that company on a migration.

Having successfully migrated hundreds of charging stations to the SWTCH network over the years, we highly recommend working with a provider experienced in performing such a migration. They’ll know what to expect in the process and be able to help you avoid complications along the way.

Will migrated EvoCharge stations work the way they did before?

Yes. Because EvoCharge supported OCPP, the full functionality of your charging stations should be available to you if you migrate to a new provider with a platform that also supports that functionality.

If there are specific features you want to be sure your chargers retain, be sure to check in with your new solutions provider to ensure they are supported.

Reach out to SWTCH to discuss your priority features and how they support them.
