CSA Group expands wire and cable testing capabilities at Atlanta laboratory
Expanded in-house flame testing and integrated certification services give wire and cable manufacturers a new U.S. option for North American market access
CSA Group has expanded its wire and cable testing capabilities at its Atlanta laboratory, strengthening its ability to provide manufacturers with streamlined testing and certification services for the U.S. and Canadian markets. The investment enhances capacity and supports efficient pathways to certification and market access across North America in response to growing demand from manufacturers seeking efficient access to both markets.
Located in Alpharetta, Georgia, CSA Group’s 30,000-square-foot Atlanta laboratory gives wire and cable manufacturers a new accredited U.S. option with dedicated testing infrastructure and advanced equipment for key flame classification testing. Expanded capacity, greater scheduling flexibility and access to testing and certification services through a single trusted provider can help customers keep programs moving while reducing coordination across multiple laboratories.
The laboratory offers in-house FT4 vertical flame testing, FT6 Steiner Tunnel testing, and FT1, FT2 and FT5 flame evaluations. Conducting these key evaluations within the Atlanta facility can simplify project coordination, limit unnecessary transfers between locations and help testing programs stay on schedule. The methods are referenced by important regulatory and building code requirements throughout North America, including the National Building Code of Canada, National Electrical Code (NEC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
The Alpharetta facility supports testing and certification across a broad wire and cable portfolio. Capabilities include communications and optical fiber cables; building wire; fire alarm and signal cables; photovoltaic and electric vehicle cables; armored cables; and other specialty cable constructions. This breadth allows manufacturers to coordinate multiple product programs with CSA Group while receiving consistent technical support and certification expertise.
“Manufacturers are under growing pressure to meet customer commitments and bring new products to market without delays, while continuing to satisfy evolving regulatory requirements,” said Ana Restovic, Commercial Vice President, Home and Commercial, CSA Group. “Our investment in Atlanta gives wire and cable manufacturers access to expanded testing capacity and integrated certification services through a single provider. This can simplify project coordination, reduce unnecessary handoffs and help customers move forward with greater confidence and speed.”
The Atlanta expansion strengthens CSA Group’s global wire and cable certification network and complements capabilities across its broader laboratory footprint. For manufacturers with both wire and cable and lighting needs, the accredited Atlanta laboratory also provides lighting certification and performance testing to more than 50 standards, including third-party ENERGY STAR® testing. Coordinating these services through one location can reduce administrative complexity, streamline communication and support more efficient project timelines.
