DCM2 Series: The High-Power DC Energy Meters for Battery Storage Systems, Megawatt Charging, Microgrids and DC Distribution Systems from Carlo Gavazzi

DCM2 Series

Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group active in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electronic equipment, is proud to announce the launch of the DCM2, its direct-connection energy meters for DC systems.

The DCM2 significantly expands Carlo Gavazzi’s DC metering portfolio range by introducing a solution capable of supporting systems up to 1,500 Volts DC and 1,500 Amps DC, and applications reaching up to 2.25 MW.

The DCM2 is ideally suited for high-power Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)DC distribution systemsmicrogrids, and EV fast-charging infrastructure, with a specific focus on Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS) for trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. Thanks to its cURus approval and CTEP compliance, the DCM2 is especially well positioned for the North American market.

The DCM2 combines precise high-current DC measurement with advanced communication, safety, and diagnostic capabilities in a compact and robust solution. The system includes a transducer for voltage and current measurement together with a display unit featuring RS485 Modbus RTU and Ethernet Modbus TCP interfaces for easy integration and real-time monitoring.

Designed for demanding applications such as battery energy storage systems and high-power EV charging infrastructure, the DCM2 features sealable terminal caps, real-time temperature monitoring, Modbus diagnostic alerts, and secure busbar installation, ensuring reliable and safe operation while further strengthening Carlo Gavazzi’s monitoring solutions.

The previously launched DCM1 and DCT1 series address DC metering and transducer applications up to 1,000 Volts DC and 600 Amps DC, while the DCM2 has been specifically developed to meet the growing demand for higher-power DC infrastructures.

Main Technical Features:

  • Direct-connection DC energy meter for systems up to 1,500 V DC / 1,500 A DC
  • Designed for battery storage systems, MCS fast chargers, DC distribution and industrial applications
  • RS485 Modbus RTU and Ethernet Modbus TCP integrated in the same unit
  • Measurement of voltage, current, active power, energy, ampere-hours, run hours, and operating time
  • Data refresh time: ≤ 200 mS
  • Imported and exported energy measurement
  • Energy resolution via Modbus communication: 0.0001 kWh
  • cURus approved and CTEP compliant
  • CE compliant according to applicable European directives
  • Diagnostic alarms for overtemperature, overcurrent, and overvoltage
  • Auxiliary power supply: 12–24 Volts DC ±20%

The DCM2 Series is available from Carlo Gavazzi’s network of sales offices and distributors in the Americas, and more information is available at www.GavazziAutomation.com.
